Inspection and Design of Light Pole Foundation on Vaulted Slab
Cook County, Illinois
DB Sterlin was responsible for work that included the preparation of design plans, profiles, general notes, and maintenance of traffic plans for the installation of electrical conduit to proposed cellular antennas. Scope of work also included the collection of data, site visits, structural design, and structural analysis. Collection of data work included a review of existing plans/documents, including sidewalk framing, sidewalk slab details, light pole foundation, and a review of proposed light pole dimensions, loads, and base plate connection. Site visits consisted of obtaining authorization to access vaulted space from the building owner/rep, verifying configuration and elements of existing structural systems, and assessing the current condition of systems. Furthermore, DB Sterlin performed a structural analysis of the existing light pole foundation and anchor bolts to determine the current structural capacity of the system and developed design details for repairs and/or retrofits to the existing structural system to accommodate the installation of a new light pole.
The project consisted of the installation of mini macro antennas onto new light poles throughout the City of Chicago. The mini antennas provide an additional cellular signal in low coverage areas. DB Sterlin was responsible for verifying electrical power source availability, and pavement conditions and evaluating the presence of potential conflicts (vaulted sidewalks, other utilities, etc.).
