Lincoln Yards South: Site Development Works (SDW)
Chicago, Cook County, Illinois
DB Sterlin Consultants served as the Resident Engineering team, acting as Owner’s Representatives for the first phase of the Lincoln Yards Development Project. Responsibilities included managing construction, maintaining all contract documentation, coordinating staff for adequate coverage, chairing weekly progress meetings, executing contract modifications and pay estimates, and tracking the project schedule and budget.
The overall project consisted of providing construction engineering services to oversee Package A.1, which involved extending W. Concord Place from Throop Street to the Chicago River, as well as roadway improvements along W. Concord Place from Elston Avenue to Throop Street. Additionally, the project included Package B “Partial,” which entailed removing existing river wall segments and installing new ones along the west bank of the North Branch of the Chicago River (from Sta. 0+00 to 2+20). The project spanned multiple Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts, necessitating meticulous documentation to ensure the client received applicable funding reimbursement upon maintenance transfer to the City. Ultimately, the completion of Lincoln Yards will transform a former heavy industrial site into a vibrant riverfront neighborhood, seamlessly connecting Lincoln Park to Bucktown.
