The scope of work consisted of construction engineer services for repair and rehabilitation projects for the City’s inventory of bridge and viaduct structures. DB Sterlin provided construction engineering services for bridge repair projects (Citywide) for the City of Chicago, Department of Transportation (CDOT). Primary responsibilities included plans and specifications review, site conditions review, contract administration, material inspection, monitor testing firms. verifying contractor’s layout, project documentation control, construction inspection, scheduling meetings, utility coordination, as-build reviews, and overseeing punch list. In addition, DB Sterlin made sure that the project cost, schedule, adherence to contract drawings, specifications, and milestones were fulfilled avoiding unnecessary delays, contract modifications, and claims.
The project consists of the partial reconstruction and full width resurfacing of the existing pavement along S. Commercial Ave. from S. South Chicago Ave. (E. 93rd St.) to E. 90th St. The work also includes, but is not limited to, bus pad placement, curb, and gutter removal and replacement, sidewalk removal and replacement, ADA ramp replacement, driveway removal and replacement, replacement of existing lighting system, smart lighting, modernization of traffic signal equipment, drainage improvements, planting new trees, installing pavers and new sidewalk furniture such as bike racks, benches, trash receptacles, etc., and installation of pavement markings and regulatory signs.
