Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) 2023 Structure Inspection
Chicago, Illinois
DB Sterlin oversaw NBIS and Element Level inspection of 5 bridges, which included 3 highway structures and 2 aircraft taxiway structures. In addition to the bridges, DB Sterlin performed structural inspections of 3 tunnel structures and 1 culvert. Many of the structures required coordination with CDA for airside access and traffic control for highway lane closures. DB Sterlin completed all required IDOT forms for NBIS structures as well as Structure Condition Reports for CDA for all the structures.
The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) owns and maintains several structures at O’Hare International Airport. The National Bridge Inspection Standard (NBIS) requires that bridges be inspected on a regular basis to ensure the safety of the traveling public. To ensure compliance with the FWHA, NBIS, IDOT, and CDOT requirements, the CDA requires biennial and element level inspections of the 14 bridges, 21 culverts, and 7 tunnels at O’Hare International Airport.
