The work included construction management, oversight of field inspectors, daily reporting, and coordination with Peoples Gas engineering and field staff for field changes and review of bid packages. In addition, DBS was responsible for overseeing, monitoring, and inspecting pipeline construction activities to ensure requirements of design, drawings, specifications, municipal and national regulations, and industry practices are being met in a safe, efficient, and environmentally sound manner. DB Sterlin staff responsibilities included coordinating contracts, data entry, field documentation, and coordination with Peoples Gas staff and contractors to ensure that all work was performed and completed properly and on time.
The AMRP for Peoples Gas is an accelerated program to replace all low-pressure mains and all medium-pressure cast iron and ductile iron mains. In recent years, Peoples Gas has annually replaced about 45 miles of cast iron and ductile iron main with polyethylene pipes. The AMRP will replace nearly 2,000 miles of natural gas pipes out of the total 4,000-mile gas main infrastructure to ensure long-term safety and reliability.
