Lincoln Village Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge

DB Sterlin was responsible for providing construction engineering services for the Lincoln Village Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge project in the City of Chicago. The scope of work included inspecting the contractors’ work, scheduling, processing and maintaining all project documentation, which included preparing daily reports and maintaining a project diary and responding to project correspondence. In addition, DB Sterlin reviewed material submittals and shop drawings, generated pay estimates, change orders, RFIs, chaired weekly progress meetings, prepared punch lists and verified timely completion of all work. Documentation for this project was performed utilizing the CDOT Database. Also, DB Sterlin was responsible for coordinating traffic impacts, ensuring compliance with CDOT permits, detours and closures, and maintaining close contact with Aldermanic wards to provide updates on construction activities and minimize impact to neighborhoods and businesses.
This project consisted of constructing the all-new Lincoln Village Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge. This bridge crosses the North Shore Channel south of Devon Avenue and north of Lincoln Avenue (U.S. Route 41). The bridge is the final link of a continuous multi-use trail connecting four municipalities along the North Shore Channel. The work also included MSE wall installation, embankment, pile driving, substructure construction, pavement construction, lighting, landscaping, and the installation of a 181’ single span prefabricated steel truss bridge.
