Midway Airport Taxiways Y&K Reconstruction and Enhancement

The scope of services for this project consisted of the full topographic survey and design plan documents for the Midway Airport Taxiways Y & K. DB Sterlin performed a full topographic survey which included the location of all surface features including man-holes and hand-holes, within the project limits. DB Sterlin also provided updated existing conditions, erosion control and restoration, and drainage design plans. Furthermore, DB Sterlin provided quantities, cost opinions, specifications, and details for the aforementioned design elements and assisted with RFI response and Shop Drawing review during construction.
The project included the pavement rehabilitation of Taxiway Y and Taxiway K at Midway International Airport. The work consisted of the mill (0”‐ 3”) and overlay with 6” of new bituminous asphalt pavement on the full width of Taxiways Y and D, widening of Y1 and Y2, and new asphalt pavement to the South Ramp for a remote hold apron area next to Runway 4R and full depth reconstruction of Taxiway K, including new PCC, new (20 foot wide) shoulder area and electrical lighting, cabling, and vault infrastructure improvements and landscaping. The scope of work also included the enhancements to the South Ramp area.
