The Bridge Inspection Program Management project in Milwaukee County focused on ensuring the safety and resiliency of key county bridges through comprehensive hydraulic and scour analysis. The initiative involved updating existing Scour Plans of Action (POAs) and developing new plans for bridges that previously lacked formal procedures, strengthening emergency preparedness, monitoring protocols, and long-term bridge performance.
Engineering for Structural Safety
DB Sterlin conducted detailed hydraulic and scour evaluations, updating two existing POAs for the Oak Creek Parkway over Oak Creek and Rawson Avenue over the Root River. The team also analyzed four bridges along eastbound and westbound Good Hope Road over the Milwaukee River to develop two new POAs. Work included preparation of scour monitoring plans and detour routes to ensure public safety in the event of bridge closures due to scour.
Coordinating Infrastructure Management
The project required integration with ongoing bridge inspections and county operations. DB Sterlin summarized analysis results and incorporated them into updated and new POAs, providing clear guidance for monitoring, maintenance, and emergency response while maintaining compliance with state and federal bridge safety standards.
