Bridge Deck Delamination Surveys
Peoria County, Illinois
The scope of services for this project consisted of Bridge Deck Delamination Surveys on various IDOT Bridges in District Four to determine the scope of work for bridge repairs and/or replacement. The bridge decks received a visual inspection above and below deck, infrared thermography on the deck wearing surface, and cores as needed to confirm the results of the thermography, and ground penetrating radar scans. DB Sterlin performed bridge surveys using a combination of soundings, infrared thermographic surveys, ground penetrating radar, visual inspections, limited deck coring, and other methods as approved to identify areas of delimitation. The work involved project management, data collection, infrared thermography scans, pavement cores, concrete core chloride tests, visual inspection of the underside of the deck, quality calculations, preparation of plan drawings, identifying areas of delamination/spalls for necessary concrete deck patching/repairs and preparing project reports documenting the techniques and equipment used in the preparation of the report and proposed partial or full depth repairs.
